BRAND NEW INSTRUCTIONAL AND PERFORMANCE DVD’S

In June, 2009, watch for many instructional and performance DVD’s featuring Princess Farhana, including Hollywood Music Center’s double disc set, “Tales Of Desire”, a live performance Tribal Fusion DVD and Cheeky Girl’s Productions’ instructional DVD “Combo-Nation” and “By Dancers, For Dancers Vol. 5”, a performance DVD. Shot and edited by Michelle “Champagne” Joyce, these DVD’s feature many of today’s top belly dance artists. In addition to the Princess, you can view performances and lean cool combos from Aradia, Shoshanna, Bahaia, Lotus Niraja, Oreet, Sandra, Kristina Canizares, Michelle herself and many more lovely dancers.

In July 2009 look for Her Majesty’s new instructional DVD, “Armed And Dangerous: Hand And Arm Technique For Belly Dance”, which covers technique suitable for many types of belly dancing, folkloric dance or fusion… including drills for graceful hands and arms, posture, framing, ethnic gestures, a finger cymbal drill, and more- plus two performances. This DVD was directed by Steve Balderson, and shot at the lovely historic Columbian Theater in Wamego, Kansas. The Columbian Theater itself contains many large oil paintings and architectural relics from the 1893 World’s Fair (where Little Egypt brought Oriental Dance to the United States for the very first time) and there is a virtual tour of these magnificent works of art and their history included as bonus footage on the DVD’s. PRINCESS AT AHLAN WA SAHLAN Festival, CAIRO, EGYPT: JUNE 24-JULY 8 2009- visit www.raqiahassan.net for more info on this fab festival and workshops with The Princess!Princess Farhana will be in Alaska for workshops and shows in August of 2009: in Juneau from August 6-8, and the following weekend in Anchorage. Also, the Princess just got added onto Tribal Dreams in Lincoln, Nebraska, which makes her third year of teaching at that festival. Other instructors for 2009 include Samantha Riggs and John Compton.

PRINCESS FARHANA ON THE SILVER SCREEN… OR YOUR TELEVISION!

You may have seen Princess Farhana on a movie or television screen … and if you haven’t yet, you will soon!

In May 2009, the Princess will go on location to Macon, Georgia to shoot Steve Balderson’s “Stuck!”. A cinema noir homage to vintage women’s prison films, “Stuck!” will be shot in black and white , and also starts cinematic legends Karen Black and Mink Stole. The film features classic “ broads behind bars”: a wrongly accused heroine, machine-gun quick hipster dialog and death-block cat fights, and will be released early in 2010.

Also from director Steve Balderson: the fabulous dance documentary feature “Underbelly” spotlighting Princess Farhana’s career. The features Her Majesty in performances from around the world, as well as behind-the-scenes footage at theatrical shows and dance workshops and festivals, with folks like Kajira Djoumahna, Rachel Brice, Margaret Cho, Jim Boz, Tempest, Zoe Jakes, John Compton, Atlantis, Samantha Riggs, John Compton, burlesque artists Dirty Martini, Jo Weldon and many more. Filming began in November 2006 at Tribal Dreams in Lincoln Nebraska, and will also feature footage from Tribal Fest 2007, the Sun Bellies Mexican Riviera belly dance cruise, and workshops and festivals across America and in Europe. Her Royal Highness also had a hand in the feature film “Charlie Wilson’s War”, acting as choreographer Fatima Robinson’s assistant. The film is currently available on DVD..
